November News | Reflecting on flags and lasting legacies
The latest news from Kinetika
Across nearly three decades, Kinetika’s silks have travelled coastlines, city streets and mountain paths, becoming shared symbols of identity, creativity and connection. In 2025, that story expanded in powerful ways. And at a time when flags can be used to divide, our silks remind us of their other purpose: gathering people together, celebrating difference and creating space for shared stories. Urban Flow filled Roehampton with colour as 100 co-created silks moved through the neighbourhood in a celebration of unity and local pride. Hundreds more flags lined the seafront for the Beach of Dreams finale, and new silks for Mountains of Hope are now being created ahead of their journey along the Lebanon Mountain Trail in 2026.
As Kevin Rushby wrote at the Beach of Dreams finale, “a flag can be a positive thing — a rallying point for generosity, optimism and a desire to improve the world.” That belief runs through everything we do. Walking, talking and making continues to bring communities together – and in 2026, from our 12th annual T100 festival, Seeing Thurrock Differently: A Journey Home to international collaborations, the silks will keep carrying those connections forward.
