Distance: 15 miles

The Colne and one of its creeks take us to Wivenhoe, where we cross the river by ferry to Rowhedge*. From here we walk inland to the small village of Peldon.

Walk Guidelines

There are two official meeting locations per day; at the start and near the mid-point. If you only wish to walk your one-mile stretch and join the walking party as it comes through your section, you can specify to meet ‘at my mile’ on the booking form (which should have been emailed to you already).

If you are meeting ‘at my mile’, please understand it is difficult for us to specify the exact time the main walking party will arrive. To help you estimate this, use the scheduled times below and add 30 mins per mile to get to your mile. We are using a walking speed of 2 miles an hour as a guide.

• Start point 9AM: (Miles 232 – 240) The Waterside fish and chip shop, 59 Waterside, Waterside Marina, Brightlingsea CO7 0AX
• Ferry crossing 1:50PM: from Rose & Crown, The Quay, Wivenhoe CO7 9BX
• Mid point 2:30PM: (Miles 241 – 246)  Rowhedge Ferry Landing, opposite Rowhedge Village Food City (South side of river.) Please note the location of mile 241 has changed to Rowhedge – please see map.
• End point 5:30PM: Peldon & Wigborough Community Hall, Peldon CO5 7PT
